Details

Against the backdrop of the current recession, China’s economic and political landscape is of paramount importance in facilitating a speedy global recovery. With greater prioritization of clean energy, emission reduction, and sustainable development, China faces a huge challenge in maintaining growth while addressing critical environmental concerns.
How can China transform its industrial structure in support of a cleaner, greener future? What are the opportunities and challenges for international businesses under China’s $586 billion stimulus package that strongly emphasized sustainability as a recovery path? How can its business and policy involvement in international governance reforms drive changes for crafting a low carbon future?
Providing bridge between China and the international community, the 2009 Bridges Geneva China Dialogue will present six planetary sessions in the two-day conference covering topics at the intersection of trade, sustainability and economic development. The first day will be focused on economic recovery, global financial institutional reform and the role of Chinese multinationals in economic recovery. The second day is devoted to the discussions of environmental sustainability; topics include energy conservation, emission reduction, low carbon initiatives and China’s role in Copenhagen and international cooperation.
