An acknowledged leader in Sustainability with over 20 years of experience promoting sustainability in business practices, financial markets and international public policy.
Prior to EBG Capital, Bernd was Global Co-Head of Credit Suisse’s Environmental Business Group (EBG) where he led the implementation of the EBG strategy in clean tech and natural resources. In this role he led the evaluation, structuring and due diligence of an agricultural fund. Bernd played a key role in securing the mandate for the Masdar Clean Tech Fund with Abu Dhabi and Siemens.
Until 2007, Bernd was Global Head of Sustainability Affairs at Credit Suisse. He played a critical role designing and launching the groundbreaking Responsibility Microfinance Mutual Fund in 2002. As a Lead Author he contributed to the Chapter on “Impacts of Climate Change on Financial Services” of the IPCC Third Assessment Report. IPCC won the 2007 Nobel peace Prize.
Prior to joining Credit Suisse Group in 1998, Bernd was the Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Geneva, Switzerland and in Nairobi, Kenya.
